ERGONOMIC Assessments and Treatment
Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) will conduct an in-depth interview and ideally observe you as you do the activities causing you pain. The OT will precisely analyze the relationship between your physical condition and movement (biomechanics) and daily function (task analysis) to find the functional causes of your pain. With clear explanations, the OT will make sure you fully understand what movements and activities are causing you pain, and provide you with practical solutions. The follow-up recommendations will reduce or eliminate the strain on your muscle and joint tissues and allow your body to heal. If you require ergonomic equipment or supplies, your OT will advise you about the best available options, and can provide you with demo versions of several kinds of equipment.
Upon request, your OT can work with your Doctor, Physiotherapist or other health care providers to ensure you receive the best results from treatments and therapy.

PEDIATRIC Assessments and Treatment
We provide OT consultations for families with children experiencing difficulties at home, at school and in the community. We work with families and schools to find out what is behind the challenges and work together to find solutions that work for the child, parents and teachers. The OT will work with you to understand the relationship between your child’s development and how the child experiences and performs daily activities at home and academic work at school. Therapy focuses on matching your child’s current experience and abilities to activities that support learning and growth. Conditions/challenges include Autism and Aspergers (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Sensory Processing (SPD) also known as Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Learning Difficulties, handwriting difficulties, motor coordination/Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), communication and social and emotional learning. We provide consultations for specific issues as well as ongoing therapy to support children as they move forward and work towards new goals and challenges.
Your OT can work with your Doctor, Physiotherapist, and school to ensure you receive the best results from treatments and therapy.

PREVENTION
Our OT consultations assist individuals, workplaces and organizations to mitigate the most common causes of strain, fatigue, injury and pain conditions. From individuals to teams, we design or modify workstations, tools, equipment and/or activities for efficient, pain-free function.
Each individual has unique physical capacities and needs for optimal health and functional ability. However, traditional furniture and equipment has been designed for the requirements of the task, not the requirements of the human body. This results in workers relying on postures or shortcuts that put them at risk of injury.
Furthermore, mass market designers must create their plans to meet the needs of an “average” person – one that rarely exists in the real world. Because of this, most people work in a physical environment that is not suited for the way their body actually works. The consequences are fatigue, pain and lost productivity.
The job of Occupational Therapists, in this context, is to improve the design of equipment or task routines so that individual workers can get their jobs done safely.
Consult with our OTs to ensure that you or your employees are protected from unnecessary injuries and chronic pain conditions.
